Post-Exit Planning: How I figured out what's next and found my passion in life.
On December 2, 2021 with one signature, I became semi-retired at the age of 37.
That was the day I signed into my banking account and realized I didn't have to work anymore. I had sold my business for a massive profit after 7 years of owning it. It was both an exciting and terrifying day. It was one of those few days in life when your identity shifts in an instant. The only other time I have experienced this was the day I had my first child and immediately became a parent. If you are a parent, you know that feeling. It's overwhelming and hard to wrap your head around at first.
Once the shock of what I had done wore off, it was time to think about the next stage in my journey. As much as I loved building a business, it was one of the most challenging, stressful things I have done in life. It was also one of the most rewarding. I explored buying another business, but ultimately decided I wanted something different in this next chapter. I wanted most of my time to be devoted to the people and things I love.
What's next?
I now have the financial freedom and time to think about what I am truly passionate about in life. I've transitioned from an active business owner to an investor and creator. While I could retire, I love challenging myself and learning new things.
For the last year, I have been exploring ways to create passive income doing what I love. I've started licensing my ideas, self-published books, bought rental properties, even taken a part-time job to learn more about specific areas of business that interest me. Now, I plan to dedicate the semi-retired life section of this website to telling you more about how I'm creating passive income. As I try out different strategies, I'll tell you what works and how to do it.
Why am I dedicating time to sharing my semi-retired income strategies?
My purpose in life has always been finding ways to help others better their life. Whenever I changed majors in college or careers, this one thing kept coming up. I want to help people. I hope by sharing my journey, I can help you achieve your goals. That is the mission of The Leverage Game, to share ways you can create wealth to better your situation and live your dream life.
The wonderful thing about becoming an acquisition entrepreneur is it allows you to one day do what you are passionate about with the knowledge that you have achieved financial freedom. The pressure is off. You have enough money. Everything that comes now is icing on the cake. It is fun and exploratory. I am learning new things all the time and taking chances without fear of failure.
How am I able to do this before 40?
I bought a business, built that business, and sold it for a profit. That was the foundation for my wealth. That one life-changing decision allowed me to get to this point. Semi-retired at 37.
